Staff Correspondent: Students of seven colleges affiliated with Dhaka University, who have been staging demonstration for five-point demand, withdrew their blockade at Nilkhet in Dhaka for today.

The announcement came following a meeting between DU vice-chancellor and a delegation of students on Wednesday afternoon.

Although the blockade has been withdrawn for today, they will come up with the next course of action holding a press conference at the Dhaka College canteen tomorrow at 10:00 am, the demonstrating students said.

Students of the seven colleges -- Dhaka College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, Eden Mohila College, Begum Badrunnesa Government Girls' College, Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College, Government Bangla College and Government Titumir College -- staged demonstrations for the second consecutive day on Wednesday.

They blocked the Nilkhet intersection and New Market roads to force the university accept their demands that include publication of exam results within 90 days.

Several hundred students took to the streets around 11:30am, halting traffic on the busy road, leading to huge gridlocks.

The protesters said they want the university to explain mass failure of students and review the exam papers. They also demand a separate administrative building for the seven colleges, at least 14 classes a month by DU teachers, launching of separate academic calendar and crash programmes to cut session jam.
