Safe Road: Students call off demo till Mar 28

Senior Correspondent: Agitated students of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) have called their demonstration demanding safe roads till March 28.

They came up with the decision after a meeting with Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayor Atikul Islam on Wednesday afternoon.

Tauhiduzzaman, student of Law Department of BUP, said that the decision was taken after a meeting with DNCC mayor. A 10-member student delegation, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman, BUP VC Major Gen Emdad Ul Bari were also present in the meeting.

Earlier, the meeting began at 2:00pm.

BUP student Abrar Ahmed Chowhdury was killed by a Suprovat Paribahan bus in front of the capital’s Bashundhara Residential Area gate on Tuesday morning. Later, agitated students took the streets and enforced blockade to press home eight-point demand.
