Staff Correspondent: Feni arson victim madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi is not being sent to Singapore for better treatment as her health condition is not well.
Dr Samanta Lal Sen, co-ordinator of the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) burn unit, said this on Tuesday.
“We talked to physicians of Singapore through video conference, but they have advised us not to send her to Singapore at now”, he said.
Dr Samanta Lal Sen said, “All medical files of Nusrat were sent to Singapore on PM’s directives. Doctors of Singapore will give us directives for further steps we should take.”
Earlier, Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque said, “Nusrat will be sent to Singapore on health condition.”
The minister said this on Monday evening after visiting Nusrat at DMCH.
On April 6 around 9:30am, four unidentified people took Nusrat to the roof top of the three-storey administrative building of the madrasa and set her on fire, leaving 80 per cent of her body seriously burnt.
Firstly, she was taken to Sonagazi Health Complex. Later, she was referred to Feni Sadar Hospital. From there, she shifted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) as her health condition deteriorated. She was put on life support on Monday.
