Drug dealer killed in Dhaka gunfight

Medical Correspondent: A suspected drug dealer was killed and two RAB personnel received injury in a gunfight with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Mohammadpur of the capital early Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Nabi Hossain, 49, son of Chan Mia, hailed from Kachubunia area of Teknaf Upazila of Cox’s Bazar.

RAB-2 Deputy Additional Direction (DAD) Azad said on information that a group of drug traders took position in Dhaka Udyan area, the law enforcers conducted a drive around 5:30am.

Meanwhile, an armed group opened fire at the RAB members enforcing them to retaliate with firing back. At one stage, Nabi was found bullet-hit. 

Later, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where duty doctors declared him dead.

A foreign made pistol, bullets and 10,000 piece Yaba pills were recovered from the spot.
