PM visits Sheikh Selim’s residence to console family

Senior Correspondent: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited Awami League leader and her cousin Sheikh Selim’s residence at Banani here on Wednesday to console family members over the death of Selim’s grandson in Sri Lanka Easter Sunday blasts.

Sheikh Selim’s family members and his relatives burst into tears when the Prime Minister entered his house around 2:40 pm on Wednesday.

The mortal remains of Zayan Chowdhury, 8, the grandson of Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, arrived here in Dhaka this afternoon.

A Singapore Airlines flight carrying Zayan’s body landed at Dhaka airport around 12:45 pm.

His body was taken to their Banani house around 1:30 pm and he will later be laid to rest at Banani graveyard after a namaz-e-janaza.

So far, 359 people were killed in explosions in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday. He had gone there with his family on a vacation.

His father Mashiul Haque Prince was also injured in the blasts and undergoing treatment there.
