Risingbd Desk: The World Accreditation Day-2019 is being observed in the country like elsewhere in the world today.
This year, the theme of the day is "Accreditation: Adding Value to Supply Chains".
On the eve of the day, President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave separate messages wishing success of the day, reports BSS.
In his message, President Abdul Hamid said accreditation plays a pivotal role in ensuring supply chain for products and services especially in the context of socio-economic development and globalization.
It also confirms the quality of products, process and services for producers, exporters, importers, businessmen and customers, he said, adding that effective selection of sustainable supplier makes business maximum benefit, not only in terms of financial stability but also of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and ethical practices. In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said providing -quality goods and services at all levels of the supply chain- is one of the prerequisites for achieving confidence of buyers and consumers.
For this, an effective and trusted Quality Management System is essential, the premier said, adding: "In this context, the accreditation system is being considered as an important tool throughout the world." She said the main targets of the incumbent government are to make Bangladesh an industrialized middle income country by 2021 and a developed one by 2041. "In order to achieving this goal, Bangladesh is moving faster towards quality industrialization." she added.
Bangladesh Accreditation Board (BAB) and Dhaka Chamber of commerce and industries (DCCI) jointly organized a seminar at Motijheel.
Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun and State Minister Kamal Ahmed Majumder are scheduled to attend the function.
