Polls deferral: JOF to hold meetings with EC, editors

Senior Correspondent: Jatiya Oikyafront (JOF) will hold meetings with the Election Commission (EC) and press editors to discuss their demand of deferring the date of the upcoming 11th general election scheduled by EC.”

JOF spokesperson, also secretary general of BNP, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir came told this the reporters after a meeting with the alliance’s top leaders on Tuesday noon.

The meeting was held at the chamber of Gono Forum president Dr Kamal Hossain, also main leader of JOF, at the capital’s Motijheel.

Mirza Fakhrul said, “A delegation led by Dr Kamal Hossain will go to EC at12:00pm on Wednesday with their demand of deferring polls. Apart from this, we will also hold a meeting with print media editors over the issue on November 16.”

“The EC is completely unsuccessful to hold a fair election. They did not have talks or exchange views with political parties over conducting polls or schedule as they are not reluctant to arranging fair polls,” he added.
