Senior Correspondent: Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader said his party-led government is not so inhuman that it will kill BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in jail without treatment.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister came up with the reaction after AL secretariat meeting at the party president’s political office in Dhanmondi in the capital on Friday noon.
Earlier, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir alleged that the government is pushing Khaleda Zia towards death in jail without treatment.
In reaction, Quader also said, “I want to say at least Sheikh Hasina government is not so inhuman. She is behind the bar due to legal reasons. But the government would not make such inhuman deeds like to kill her in jail without treatment.”
Quader also expressed optimism that the unresolved issues between Bangladesh and India would be settled during the upcoming tenure of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said, “During Modi’s last tenure, we were able to resolve many issues between the two countries. We hope that he would continue to work towards solving the unsettled matters including the Teesta water sharing issue.”
